Chashme Badoor – Kyunki Har Ek Friend Kameena Hota Hai !
I have grown up watching David Dhawan Films and i am proud that i was born in era where David Dhawan made comedies, may it be Aankhein, Shola Aur Shabnam, Coolie No. 1, Hero No. 1 Ek Aue Ek Gyarah or Partner. Apart from Romantic, Action, Thriller, Horror Comedy there is a different genre to cinema and its called “David Dhawan Cinema” Chashme Badoor is a complete David Dhawan film and you can make it out from the moment you see the trailer of the film.
CHASHME BADDOOR narrates the story of three friends [Ali Zafar, Siddharth, Divyendu Sharma], who attempt to woo the same girl [Taapsee Pannu]. While the girl sets her sights on one of the guys, the remaining two go on an overdrive to tear the love birds apart. Aptly, the film should be called HAR EK FRIEND KAMEENA HOTA HAI ! the whole story revolves around the Kaminagiri the friends do and it is so related to everyone that every now and then you feel this has happened to you !
The star cast of the movie is nothing to boast about Ali Zaffar who plays Siddarth (Sid) is mediocre i dont like him and there is nothing facinating about him as an actor, even in the movie Ali Zaffar plays a very simple lovable next door neighbour kind of a boy but seems very lifeless. Divyendu Sharma (Omi) reminds of his previous role as Liquid in Pyar Ka Punchnama full off life and energy has some hints of Chatur of 3 idiots sans accent. I am a big FAN of Siddarth and have seen all his movie in hindi as well as Telugu & Tamil except for recent release Love Failure as i did not manage to get its subtitles and i dont understand their language. Tapsee Pannu (Seema) has great potential and can make it big in Hindi Cinema. Rishi Kapoor is gracefull and looks like a good choice for the role of Joseph Furtado and Lillete Dubey compliments him very well as Josephine. I dont know why but contarary to people going ga ga over Anupam Kher’s acting i always find him too loud and over the board ditto in this film too. Bharti Achrekar as Seema’s dadi looks to young for the role.
Music by Sajid Wajid is the biggest draw back of the film, unlike David’s previous films the music is disappointing. The screenplay looks a little loose in the beginning and tries to give you a feeling of spoofing some song but fails ! The game of one-upmanship that was evident in his earlier works, namely DEEWANA MASTANA [Anil Kapoor, Govinda fighting for Juhi Chawla's attention] and MUJHSE SHAADI KAROGE [Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar's attempts to impress Priyanka Chopra] is very evident in CHASHME BADDOOR as well. The battle of wits is enjoyable for sure.
On an whole Chashme Badoor is strictly for a David Dhawan Fan “Brainless Comedy” as i call it dont expect to get reasons for your queries just keep your mind aside and enjoy the show especially Omi’s one liner shayaris and Siddasths comic timing ! If you want to get fresh and dont want to rack your brains Go for this one ! Done blame me if you don’t like it … I have already warned you !
My Rating : 3/5 ( -1 For Pathetic Music & -1 For not so exciting screenplay)
